First things first

I felt it was only right that my first post was an introduction to me and why I started my blog.

I’m 24 and a communications executive. I spend far too much time in bed watching tele, I constantly have a book on the go (usually a murder mystery) and Tom Hanks is my hero.

Aside from that I’m addicted to shoes and makeup, living on the ‘new in’ section of ASOS on my phone whilst browsing beauty bay on my laptop.

Since getting together with Ben last August he has caused my love of footwear to evolve. I can thank him for my first proper pair of trainers and changing my outlook on sneakers.

If you had told me a year ago I’d be up at the crack of dawn tweeting angrily at Adidas over a virtual queue trying to buy some Yeezy Boost 350 v2 I’d have said “a Yeezy who?” But I have not looked back and can say I’m officially a sneakerhead.

I got them btw

Being the youngest of four girls meant for a long time stealing their makeup and clothes was a given. However it’s actually thanks to one of my sisters (who’s a much bigger beauty lover) as to why I got into it in the first place.

I was treated as a doll and in turn she taught me a lot about makeup, from how to apply a perfect wing eyeliner to doing a bold smoky eye. Forever sending pictures on instagram of beautiful looks and gushing over new products from our favourite beauty brands.

Starting a blog

My younger self was desperate to be an author but struggled to follow any stories through, giving up after a few chapters realising it wasn’t going anywhere and I soon grew out of the idea.

But recently I’ve started to fall back in love with writing, finding it a great outlet for anxiety and stress. It was actually my colleague Deb who is a fantastic writer that persuaded me to start a blog (mainly to give her a kick up the backside to get hers going).

So finally I’ve bitten the bullet and have decided to give it ago, but first things first I had to decide on a theme. It was Deb who’s forever commenting on my ‘brow pow’ that suggested makeup, but I was worried that I needed something special to stand out.

And that’s how Lipsticks & Kicks was born.
